Allocation Action Plan

 

Section 1: Objectives - What you want to improve on.

What do you want to do, or think that you are supposed to do in this allocation?

Describe your personal objectives and expectations for this allocation, in relation to your current knowledge, understanding, skills and techniques. You are expected to link your objectives to your previous feedback

 

In this allocation I would like to learn more about how much involvement the Stage Managers have in productions as well as specific skills. Such as; photoshopping, prop sourcing, buying and making. Understanding how to organise rehearsals, creating call lists, scheduling and rehearsal reports. I still feel like I have a way to go with people skills so I feel like jumping into the deep end by being in first contact with creatives will progress these skills quicker.

Section 2: Learning & development - Why you want to improve on these things.

Consider what you hope to be doing five years from now – how are the objectives you have set for yourself useful to you in getting there?

 

I hope to be managing a group of people in some way. Whether or not I will be the best at this- I would still like the chance to give this a go in a department and put myself up to the challenge. I feel like this allocation will help me be more confident in idea of being in that role. The objectives of mine such as being better at talking to people, and understanding how the stage management team operate, will make be a better collaborator as a leader in another team/department.

 

Section 3: Action Plan - How you are going to improve these things.

What do you plan to do in order to achieve your objectives?

What recommendations or advice have you already been given that you can apply now?

 

I plan to put across to the creative team the kind of personal goals I have in mind for this allocation such as the photoshopping and prop skills. I will ask to be put into photoshop classes along with other SM students zoom. As this allocation will be very different than normal (due to coronavirus restrictions) the skills I thought I would be improving upon will be changed somewhat or will be moved into the second half of the allocation when we are allowed back into the building. Such as team work with handling the actors in any filming sessions and dealing with the creatives needs.

 

Section 4: How you will measure your improvements – what success will look like.

How will you be able to demonstrate that you have achieved your objectives?

I believe success will be along the lines of receiving positive feedback from my peers and those I am assisting. I think success will also inevitably be how effective the final product will turn out, when it comes to the organisational side of the SM teams. And being able to assist in the creatives vision at any point in the devised structure.
